Crowd does not store passwords in plain text in the database, but uses hashes computed from the original password. You will need to insert a hash, rather than the plain password, over the existing password in the database. Below is a table which list the hashes for the password 'admin' in all the encryption types supported by Crowd.

We have an old SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP1 database that we would like to retrieve some data from. Unfortunately, we have no clue what password was used to protect it and the person who created it has left the company. Is there anyway to reset the password and/or retrieve the data from this database? Or are we simply out of luck? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We had the same issue in our company, we've been looking for the solution for 4 months... We found this tiny company that handled our case exactly like we wanted -engineering/decrypting-an-encrypted-database-and-database-password-recovery

We had CE database with a password and we couldn't access the data, they took the software, reverse engineered it and found the login routine and the password (it was encrypted within the application itself). I'm posting this, because we've not been able to find help anywhere else.

Use the SQL Server Compact File EncryptionWithin the SQL Server Compact Connection String you can tell the engine to encrypt the datafile with a password. By simply specifying a password, the database is automatically encrypted. We used to support an encrypt = true name/value pair, but it was sort of silly to have a password without encryption, and encryption without a password is about as useful as putting a lock on a door but leaving the key in the lock (on the outside of the door). So, we no longer use this name/value pair and will likely throw an error in a future release if the engine sees it. Today Compact just ignores it.

Check with your database administrator if you can connect to the Oracle database using the listed methods, as the possibilities available are dependent on how the system has been configured. Usually, you specify the way you connect to an Oracle Database instance as part of the logon string appended to the userid/password, and separated from it by an at sign (@), as described in the following sections:

Set the required environment variables and run SQL*Plus as described in "Starting Oracle Utilities in the POSIX Program Environment." To connect to a database immediately, specify the user name and password as an argument as follows:

The procedure for using RMAN to create a standby database is fully explained in Appendix F of Oracle Oracle Data Guard Concepts and Administration document (10g Rel 2 and 11g Rel 1). The example uses the FROM ACTIVE DATABASE clause introduced in 11g that allows RMAN to create a standby database by copying the primary across the network without the need to store the backup files on disk or tape. RMAN also copies the spfile and password files and you can change the values for individual parameters. At a minimum, you must set db_unique_name. The example assumes that the standby uses the same directory structure as the primary.

To get your password you would need to use a program like Microsofts SQL Server Management Studio. The password is stored in a table inside the database. The tool mentioned can query the Database to show you those tables.

This goes straight into a password cracker to see if we can get the local admin password. The problem with this method is that a good password is unlikely to be found quickly, and in this case, they had chosen a good password.

For SQL files we use the abbreviations of .sdf files and its maximum size can extend up to 4 GB. This aspect of labelling the file is not a convention; in fact one can use any extension. It is highly flexible, which is to say that one .sdf file can be accessed by multiple users at a given point of time. Secondly, it can be copied to the targeted system for further usage of any kind. The .sdf data file can be protected with 128bit encryption and it is possible to set a password for the database file. 2ff7e9595c
